Preventative Care

Dental Hygiene Care

Dental health is foundational to the overall health and well-being of your body. Did you know that individuals with periodontal disease have a higher incidence of coronary artery (heart) disease? Did you know that women with periodontal disease have lower birth weight babies?

Our dental hygienist has over 20 years of experience and is the most gifted hygiene professional in our region. She shows true compassion for each of her patients and is sincerely committed to the patient’s improvement in his/her level of homecare. She is able to educate her patients and increase their understanding about the health and maintenance of their mouths.

Sealants

Protective sealants are a preventative service for newly erupted molars or other teeth with deep grooves, pits or crevices in the surface.

Digital X-Rays

Digital radiographs dramatically reduce your exposure to radiation while providing us with clear, easily retrieved images for diagnosis and treatment planning.

In-Office Fluoride Treatments

Studies now show at least a 30 percent reduction in cavities among patients who regularly receive in-office fluoride treatments during their dental cleanings.

Periodontal (Gum) Therapy

The main cause of periodontal disease, or gum disease, is bacteria in the form of plaque that is constantly forming on your teeth. Regular cleanings and good oral hygiene habits are the best ways to prevent this disease. Once the disease is present, periodontal therapy of these affected tooth root surfaces can treat and prevent the progression of the disease. Our team can evaluate your unique situation and help determine your treatment options.

Warning signs of periodontal disease can include: red, swollen gums, bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, tooth pain or sensitivity. The early stage of periodontal disease, gingivitis, can be reversed. If left untreated, the disease process can lead to tooth loss. Periodontal disease has been linked to other chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and preterm or low birth weight babies.

Nutrition Counseling and Decay Prevention

Individual risk assessment is discussed with each patient based on your history of decay. Sugary drinks, such as sodas and energy drinks, have an acidic pH. This mixes with your saliva and can have damaging effects on your enamel.

Sports Guards

Devices to protect the teeth during athletic activities are often called sports guards. Sports guards are an inexpensive insurance policy for anyone participating in contact sports. They are custom fit to your mouth. They may be made in team colors or can be made in a discreet, clear material.
